those 2.3s were around forever. they even had racing series for dirt tracks. there are all kinds of things you can get to help them out.

This absolutely acceptable. Those Pinto-based 4-cylinders are Ford’s roaches; they’re tough to kill when cared for. They also make for great project cars whenever you have the funds to put into it and not the Vic.
I recall an Oppo member, Harris Lue , has a green fastback 4-cylinder Fox. Last I heard, it got a T-Bird turbo engine swapped into it .

To be fair, you didn’t need a truck, considering that a Panther’s trunk and backseat have roughly the same amount of cargo room as a small pickup. And, you can tow with a Panther as well.
I see no problems with your situation.

neither do I. I can tow the trailer with the vic and it’s not as thirsty.
